The wave of unemployment has hit our villages hard. While all of our artisans are able to work from home (thanks to your purchases), this is a privilege many women in their village cannot... This has kept me awake at night, thinking of ways how we can provide opportunities beyond our artisans.
This mask started as our donation masks. They gave a new hope for 14 women who made it, hand-drawing each leaf motif inspired from the lushness of their village. It became a little piece of hope for the women who made it - as well as those receiving it. So we decided to expand the project to continue providing a solution that reminds us that we're in this together.
Your mask is naturally-dyed with Indigo leaves they foraged from the forest. The Hope Blue color is an ode to the courage of front-line medical workers (and their iconic blue scrubs). And did you know we plant 1 tree with each piece :)?

We all know the great story and mission behind every SukkhaCitta's piece, but of course every wearable items should serve its function. That's what I love about this brand, they don't just tell the story, everything is wearable and especially this mask is definitely functional. The fabric feels soft when it touches my face and It's thick enough that I feel safe everytime I NEED to go outside of home. Great work!
My current favorite cloth mask! I love everything about the mask: the materials, the cutting, the pattern, and the stories behind it.
I like the mask. If you can add a hard lining around the side of the mask, it will make it more adapt to your face
Love the cutting and material...fit the best! Two thumbs!
I did a lot of research before buying cloth masks, because I figured we're all going to be wearing one while out and about for quite a while, and there must differences in effectiveness in terms of materials, etc. And I bought masks from SukkhaCitta not only because I love the understated designs but most importantly cause I'm trusting you've done the research as well. And it's wonderful to be able to support local artisans in the meantime. The mask is comfortable to wear. I'm a little concerned about how long the ear loops will last but I guess we'll just have to see. It's my go-to mask, for now.
Doing things right comes at a cost. With every purchase, you enable the circle of change in our villages - gently shaking the fashion industry to end the exploitation of people who make your clothes.
Because of you, each of our 110 artisans has seen their income increase by >40%.
We plant 1 tree with every purchase and use the kindest natural fibres & dyes.
Your piece was made with love for forever. So we're giving you a promise of free repairs - for real.
