Behind the Craft

Ikatan

Crafted with 2,000 raw cotton threads, using a manual wooden loom with no electricity.

Taking four months from spinning, dyeing, handlooming, to finishing.

Each thread is a story. Yours, and ours. Weaving a fabric of our interwoven lives.

Ikatan symbolises our interconnectedness. Each piece in this ongoing body of work is crafted as an exploration and reinterpretation of the heritage Ikat technique.

Its beauty came from the people behind it. For generations, master artisans tie and bind threads to tell a story. Guided by the breath, finding balance between pulling and letting go. The patterns appear only after woven, manually inserted to connect you with the human behind it.
