We're excited to share the story behind one of our most meaningful collaborations yet: a custom-designed, handwoven Nerd Shirt created exclusively for Samsung - celebrating the launch of their new Galaxy S26 Series.
When Samsung approached us, they were looking for something that went beyond the usual gift with purchase. Something that carries a story, a purpose, and the warmth of human hands. We couldn't have been more aligned.
The Collaboration
For this project, Samsung commissioned a customized version of our signature Nerd Shirt: A relaxed, gender-neutral silhouette that has become one of SukkhaCitta's most beloved designs. Known for its effortless fit, the Nerd Shirt is a lightweight staple that lets your skin breathe, made with handwoven raw cotton and botanical dyes.
But this time, it was made exclusively for Samsung's customers. A thoughtful gift to accompany their new phone purchase, connecting the world of cutting-edge, AI powered technology with heritage craft.
It's a pairing that, on the surface, may seem unexpected. But look closer, and you'll see what Samsung saw: that true innovation isn't just about what's new. It's also about what endures.

Handwoven in Central Java
Every shirt in this collaboration was handwoven in Central Java. In a small town where generations of families have kept the art of weaving and batik alive against the relentless tide of machine made textiles.
There, our weavers craft each fabric by hand on traditional looms, threading raw cotton one line at a time. It takes weeks to produce enough fabric for a single shirt. There are no shortcuts, no machines replicating their work. Each piece carries the quiet rhythm of their hands. And the heritage of their community.

The Process: From 2,000 Threads to 1 Shirt
The journey of each Samsung x SukkhaCitta Nerd Shirt begins long before the fabric reaches the sewing table:
- Weaving. Our weavers transform raw cotton into fabric on handlooms. Made of approximately 2,000 threads, each meter of fabric is a testament to patience and precision.
- Dyeing. Using 100% plant-based dyes, our signature botanical palette, the fabric is colored naturally. No synthetic chemicals, no polluted waterways. Just plants, water, and time.
- Tailoring. The finished fabric is then cut and sewn into the Nerd Shirt silhouette, finished with plastic-free mother-of-pearl buttons and recycled polyester threads.
- The result? A shirt that Samsung's customers can wear knowing it was made with intention at every step — from the soil to the stitch.

The Impact
Collaborations like this one with Samsung matter deeply to us — and to the communities behind our clothes. Here's why:
For our artisans, large-scale orders provide stable income and sustained work over several months, strengthening the economic foundation of their families and villages.
For heritage craft, every shirt woven is an act of cultural preservation. In a world where machine-made textiles dominate, each handwoven piece keeps traditional knowledge alive.
For Samsung's customers, this gift is an invitation. An invitation to slow down, to feel the difference of something made by hand, and to become part of a story much larger than a single purchase.

Why This Matters
We believe that every collaboration is an opportunity to expand the circle of people who care about how their clothes are made. When a global technology leader like Samsung chooses to gift their customers something handcrafted by artisans in a village in Central Java, it sends a powerful message: that meaningful, responsibly made products belong everywhere — even in the world of tech.
It's proof that sustainability and desirability are not at odds. That heritage and innovation can walk hand in hand. And that a simple shirt, woven with care, can carry a story worth telling.
