Details

  • A new heritage. Inspired by the classic Beskap silhouette, this coat can be worn buttoned as a top or opened as a jacket.
  • Real Batik Tulis piece. Each intertwined line is drawn by hand to symbolize how each straw of a woven basket becomes stronger together.
  • Structured softness. Made with our signature handwoven raw cotton that gets softer with years. Double faced for extra warmth with 100% plant fibre that is naturally thermo-regulating.
  • Plant dyed. Dyed in natural Indigo fifteen times over two weeks to achieve the deep blue. As a herbal medicine, Indigo is a natural antiseptic and has a cooling effect on the skin.

I call it “Tempe Beskap” and finding it feels like finding a life partner

Having visiting 24 countries to promote tempe as Indonesia’s superfood, I realised that what we wear is the first gateway to delivering our message to the world. As I want to deliver the message of health, sustainability, and equality, I had been longing for clothes that can speak those. Sukkhacitta’s Anyam Beskap not only speaks them, but hypnotised me with them when I first saw it. It is naturally and sustainably planted, sown, and coloured as many Indonesian women in their respective villages are empowered. Its Tumpang Sari cotton material ensures breezy feel despite the double-breasted build. The traditional Javanese Beskap design charms. Now called my Tempe Beskap, it is more than clothes. It is part of my identity. It is my message of health, sustainability, an equality for the world.
